High-Precision Electronic Track Maps
Every onboard unit (OBU) of the TrainCAS system carries a highly accurate electronic track map generated by IoW. This map is not similar to common railway track maps, it is more like a comprehensive database, containing among others information about the geographic positions of tracks and switches, as well as radii and gradients.
Above all, the electronic track map serves as a basis for the reliable and highly accurate localization of the trains, using the sensors of the OBU. As such, it is a requirement for its dependable operation.
IoW offers the service of creating a highly accurate track map for the customer’s railway network. At this, the map can be enriched with various types of details.
